Registration and Deadlines
An announcement is usually placed in the church bulletin through July and August. Tryouts are typically held in the gym in the third week of August. All participants must register online with CYO and pay the $20 CYO fee BEFORE tryouts.

Volleyball is open to all fifth through eighth grade girls in Nativity parish.
Tryouts are:
August 20 from 5:45 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. for 5th grade
August 20 from 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. for 7th grade
August 21 from 5:45 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. for 6th grade
August 21 from 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. for 8th grade
Notice: Upper grades have later timeslots. With these dates being the start of Nativity school we realize they are not ideal. Having to follow the CYO schedule, Nativity school calendar and gym schedule, this is the best we could do.


Participation
Volleyball is open to all Nativity parishioners in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The volleyball coordinator sets up each tryout session (one for each grade), in which volleyball skills are objectively evaluated by a third-party individual. Based on skill level, girls are placed on A, B, and C teams for their grade. A coach will notify the player of their team. Please note, the coordinator is in no way involved in tryout evaluations and has no say in team placement.

Fee
The Athletic Committee determines participation fees each year, which can vary due to new equipment and facility expenses, CYO fees, etc. The volleyball fee for 2008 is $50 per participant.

Required Uniforms
Players are required to purchase a Nativity volleyball jersey through Educational Outfitters, 495.9488. Cost is $28.50 per jersey. Shorts will be regular, black "Soffe" shorts. Players wear tennis shoes and knee pads. Each player is responsible for buying and keeping their own uniform. These can be worn all four years. 
 
Practice
Practice is held twice a week September through October.

Games
Games are played on weekends beginning in mid-September through October.

Coaching
Parent volunteers are needed and each must be VIRTUS-trained prior to having any contact with the team.  Click for more information about VIRTUS training, or call Karen McDonald in the Parish Office, 913-491-5017.
