We welcome all students, regardless of ability or previous experience. The team includes students who just want to “get in shape & have fun” to some competing for City-Wide Track Championships in their events. Track is open to grades 3 thru 8 and no tryout is required. Volunteers can help with practice and meets.

Registration and Deadlines
An announcement is usually placed in the church bulletin and school newsletter in February. There are no tryouts for track. A CYO Parent Release Form must be completed and submitted with the fee at the time of the first practice.
Track season begins March 14, 2011and we are excited about our growing team the past few years. Last year we had more than 100 kids on the team! We welcome all students, regardless of ability or previous experience. It’s a great way to get in shape, get faster, or help your school compete for the City Championship.
Participation
Track is open to grades 3rd thru 8th and no tryout is required
Fee
The track fee for 2011 is $50 per child, which includes your Track Jersey.
Required Uniforms and Equipment
Must wear track jersey provided by Nativity for meets. Players need own running shoes.
Practice
Practice is twice a week (Mondays & Thursdays) and starts March 14 at Leawood Middle School.
Meets
There are four weekend meets, beginning April 9. All runners (3rd-8th) participate in the first three meets, but only 5th through 8th grades participate in the City Finals May 7. The meet schedule will be posted on CYO web site.
Coaches
Bill Seitz and Jeff Humenik are the coaches. With 100 kids grades 3-8, many more volunteer coaches are needed. We will need runners to lead distance runs at practice, ranging from 6 minute mile pace to 10 minute mile pace, and volunteers who can regularly assist with practices.

The $50 Fee will be collected and Jersey orders will be set for TBD evenings at each school (St Michaels & Nativity).

NOTE-If you have NOT played another CYO sport this year (Football, Volleyball or Basketball) you’ll need to complete CYO Release Form on-line at www.cyojwa.org and pay annual CYO fee, in addition to $50 Track fee.
Coaching
Parent volunteers are needed and each must be VIRTUS-trained prior to having any contact with the team. Several people are needed to help during meets and those with track or running experience are needed for practices. More details on CYO Track are available on the CYO website at www.cyojwa.org.
