Our Mission
The Church of Nativity is a living faith community which seeks to involve each member ever more personally in the life and mission of Christ experienced in the home, the workplace, the parish and society at large. We call ourselves to share our talents and to become ever more deeply involved in the mission and ministries of the Church as the Body of Christ.
Our parish is a visible sign of Christ, a sacrament of His real, but invisible, presence in our world. We recognize that Christ is present when His people gather to pray, sing and work together, for He promised: "Where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there I am in the midst of them."
As a herald of God's Word, we seek to encourage spiritual growth through our liturgical worship, our programs of religious education and formation, our ecumenical relations, and our outreach to the unchurched. We recognize our universal call to holiness and provide opportunities for one another to discern and live out that call within our Christian vocations.
We are living expression of the Roman Catholic Church within the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas; in union with our Holy Father and our Archbishop we represent the continuation of the rich heritage of the Family of God, dating back to the days of the apostles.
We view our mission as an opportunity and a responsibility to make the world a better place by imitating the example Jesus set in serving, healing, reconciling, and binding up wounds. Recognizing we have been blest, we call ourselves to Christian stewardship of our talents and financial resources in the service of the parish and others in need.
All our parish life and ministries flow from, and lead to, our call to be Church today: to worship the Father, to proclaim the truth of the Son, and to serve in the love of the Holy Spirit. |
