Confirmation
All 7th & 8th grade students of Nativity Parish are considered candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This two year process is to prepare them to live as fully initiated members of the Catholic Church.
In year one of preparation students perform service projects, attend classes, are vested as candidates and receive their Bible. Second year students attend classes, perform service projects, attend three candidate/Sponsor sessions, attend a Retreat, write a letter of request to receive the sacrament to whomever is the minister and write a paper on the patron saint they have chosen for their Confirmation name. They will need a Sponsor during the second year to walk with them in their preparation. This person is a baptized, confirmed, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and at least 18 years of age. The Sponsor is asked to attend the three Sunday sessions with the candidate and to keep in touch throughout the year modeling the Christian life.
