First Holy Communion

Preparation for First Holy Communion will begin with the Parent Sessions held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. or February 23, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.

Following a presentation on Eucharist, home materials will be distributed and the process will be explained.  First Communion dates are listed below.

The Catholic Church believes that parents are the first educators of their children. We who teach in the school or in Religious Education realize that the children will have a lesser opportunity to become adult Catholics unless it is lived in the home. Therefore, we provide materials for you to use in the home as well as some catechesis on the sacrament for your own better understanding in sharing that with your child. Please make every effort to attend a parent session before preparing your child to receive each one of these sacraments. We support and endorse all that you do. We do not teach from the materials supplied to the parents. Therefore, your child is not completely prepared if they do not complete the packet we give to you at the meetings. We are available to help in any way we can.

Further information will be given at the Parent Session.  Call Sister Helen Smith, Sacramental Preparation, 338.4367 with concerns or e-mail her at sisterhelen@kcnativity.org
