- Christmas in October
This is a Parish Outreach Ministry in which individuals as well as families get together on one Saturday in October to serve the less fortunate, the elderly, and the handicapped by repairing, cleaning, and generally fixing up their homes in the neighborhoods of the inner city. For more information, contact Tom Garbach at
tom@kcnativity.org
- Clothing Drive
Our clothing drive is held once a year to benefit several of the outreach centers in the Kansas City metropolitan area (eg., Seton Center, Duchesne Clinic, Catholic Charities, etc.). Workers are needed to help sort and box the donated clothing. Volunteers will be contacted before the clothing drive. The commitment will be for 2-3 hours on the weekend of the clothing drive. Youth (service hours are awarded) and adult volunteers are welcome! If you are interested in being part of this ministry please contact
Bonnie Bonella at 338.1301.
- Food Pantry
Nativity’s Fair Share Food & Article Collections are for the benefit of food pantries and emergency assistance centers serving the needy in our community. Three times a year (Thanksgiving, Spring, and mid-Summer) Nativity volunteers hand out approximately 1200 grocery sacks with an informative flyer, and around 750 sacks are returned with food, toiletries, and baby-related items. These collected bags are then distributed to St. Benedict’s Children’s Center, Catholic Charities Wyandotte County Food Pantry, and the Bishop Sullivan Center. Volunteers make a commitment of 1 – 3 hours assisting with the food drive. If you would like to help with this ministry contact Tom Garbach tom@kcnativity.org or 338.4367.
- St. Mary’s Food Kitchen
For over 15 years the Nativity Parish has served food to the hungry at St. Mary’s Food Kitchen in downtown Kansas City, Kansas on the third Sunday of each month. Sign up for food preparation and volunteering to serve the food at the kitchen is the second Sunday of each month in the vestibule of the Church after weekend Masses. Commitments range from buying fruits, lettuce, or green beans to making finger desserts, casseroles, etc. Workers at the kitchen leave Nativity on Sunday at 9:30 am and are home before 2:00 pm.
