7th Grade - 1st Year Confirmation Preparation
Wednesday, 6 - 7:30 p.m.
Welcome to the 7th Grade Confirmation preparation classes for the 2017-2018 school year. We look forward to working with you as "the primary teachers of your children." During the first year of Confirmation preparation, the students will study the New Testament and Sacraments and Worship. They will also be officially vested as candidates. They will be expected to perform service projects, will receive a Bible for their own personal use and will write a paper on their patron saint they have chosen for their Confirmation name. We look forward to working with your students and appreciate your support of the program.
An email will be sent prior to the first class in September. If you would like to volunteer to help in the program, please click here and fill out the form

All 7th & 8th grade students of Nativity Parish are considered candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This two year process is to prepare them to live as fully initiated members of the Catholic Church. In year one of preparation students perform service, attend classes, are vested as candidates, receive their Bible and write a paper on the patron saint they have chosen for their Confirmation name. Second year students attend classes, perform service, attend three candidate/Sponsor sessions, attend a Retreat and write a letter of request to receive the sacrament to whomever is the minister. They will need a Sponsor during the second year to walk with them in their preparation. This person is a baptized, confirmed, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and at least 18 years of age. The Sponsor is asked to attend three sessions with the candidate and to keep in touch throughout the year modeling the Christian life. The date for Confirmation is assigned by the Archbishop and will be published as soon as we receive it. Anything to do with reception of the sacrament should be referred to Suzy Meinzenbach, Coordinator of Religious Education Coordinator & Sacramental Prep, Grades K -8; 913.338-4367 or email@example.com
Arrival and Dismissal
1st & 2nd Year Confirmation Students:
Arrival: All 7th and 8th Grade students need to enter through the front doors of the school. They will head directly to the Cafeteria. We will do an opening with all 7th and 8th graders, then head to class.
Dismissal: You may pick up your student in the lower parking lot. It your student has younger siblings attending class at the same time, we ask the 7th/8th grader head upstairs to the Library and meet you with your younger siblings.
Attendance at Class
Attendance is mandatory during this two year process. We have gathered wonderful resources and Catechists. Our effort is to assist you in bringing up your children as Catholic and their need to know Christ. Missing classes and/or leaving early puts restrictions on that. Please try to save an hour and fifteen minutes each week for religion classes.
