Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 7th Grade Confirmation preparation classes for the 2007-2008 school year. We look forward to working with you as "the primary teachers of your children." During the the first year of Confirmation preparation, the students will study the New Testament and Sacraments and Worship. They will also be officially vested as Candidates. They will be expected to preform service projects and will receive a Bible for their own personal use.
We look forward to working with your students and appreciate your support of the program.

Confirmation Preparation
All 7th & 8th grade students of Nativity Parish are considered candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This two year process is to prepare them to live as fully initiated members of the Catholic Church. In year one of preparation students perform service, attend classes, are vested as candidates and receive their Bible. Second year students attend classes, perform service, attend three candidate/Sponsor sessions, attend a Retreat, write a letter of request to receive the sacrament to whomever is the minister and write a paper on the patron saint they have chosen for their Confirmation name. They will need a Sponsor during the second year to walk with them in their preparation. This person is a baptized, confirmed, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and at least 18 years of age. The Sponsor is asked to attend the three sessions with the candidate and to keep in touch throughout the year modeling the Christian life. The date for Confirmation is assigned to us and will be published as soon as we receive it. Please call Peggy, (913) 338-4367, or e-mail her at

Notes
Arrival and Dismissal
7th and 8th graders are to use the cafeteria doors for coming and going. Please be cautious on the parking lots. There are many activities in the gym during our class times. When picking up students please pull forward to the gym doors so that several cars can load at the same time. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Attendance at Class
Attendance is most important for this two year process. We have gathered wonderful resources and teachers. Our effort is to assist you in bringing up your children as Catholic and their need to know Christ. Missing classes and/or leaving early puts restrictions on that. Please try to save an hour and fifteen minutes each week for religion classes.
